We begin by picking you up at your hotel and stopping at the Richardson Blacksand Beach. A beautiful beach in the Hilo covered in soft, black sand and occasionally visited by our local turtles! Our drive goes through the Historic Banyan Drive and Queen Liliuokalani Gardens. Famous names such as President Theodore Roosevelt, Babe Ruth, Richard Nixon planted trees along this road. Similarly, the Queen Liliuokalani Gardens is a beautiful destination filled with the lush forestry of our Island. We finish the forest part of our tour at the beautiful Gardens by exploring the beautiful Rainbow Falls State Park, known for its beautiful view of the Island and never ending rainbows.
For a small break, we take you on a delicious tour of our Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory where we not only see how to harvest and grow the nuts but get to taste the Island’s wonderful, tasty culture! The Island of Hawaii not only sells our precious macadamia nuts but also beautiful orchids. Hilo is the orchid capital of the world and you will see over 200 different types of orchids with various shapes, scents, and striking colors.
Finally, we experience the center of Hawaii’s culture, lifestyle, and connection with the Island. The Volcanoes National Park, established in 1916 encompasses two active volcanoes: Kīlauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes. This experience includes the Thurston Lava Tube approximately 10 minutes or 1/3 mile walk thru the lush jungle and lava tube. Also, ground water seeps down to the hot volcanic rocks in this area and returns to the surface as steam creating incredible steam vents. Finally, the Thomas A.
